The idea of the house came up after a careful reading of the environment. The land of Stavros, in Chania is quite flat and the only thing that “breaks” this continuous geomorphology is the mountain. It starts slowly from the ground and ends at the ground with the same smooth way.

The idea was a design of a house that would be incorporated to this landscape, a building that grows and finishes gradually but remains strictly geometric as the contemporary architecture that the clients like.

One of the priorities was the privacy on this plain area – privacy from the neighbors and the road but at the same time to maximize the view towards the sea and the mountain. That’s why the ground floor took an “L” shape. In that way, the view to the sea is unblocked but the view to the interior of the house and the pool area from the road is blocked.

The house is under construction by Euroland Crete.

This project was designed on a land with an average slope of about 40%.

The rocky ground, the steep slope to the wadi leading to the sea, the view to the canyon and the sea are composing the characteristics of the land. The basic principle of the study was the building to be a discreet intervention in this peculiar environment, composing a habitation experience relevant to the natural landscape.

The house is developed on three different levels in order to follow the natural slope.

On the two upper levels there are the living areas. The volumes are partially located inside the ground and they are twisted, leaving openings for views and access to the outdoor space. Part of the roof is covered with soil and plants so as to be hidden as a result of the intention of a discreet intervention.

The third level is much lower than the other two. The main view is the gorge so that sense of the “hidden” and sheltered led to the creation of an in-cave part which includes bedrooms, the most intimate areas that are characterized by introversion such as the gorge.

The house is developed on different levels following the slope and reaching literally to the cliff. The rooms appear externally as “boxes” that are hanging over the cliff. The view from inside the house and the pool area is riveting.

This house is located in Akrotiri of Chania. It was designed for a big family. All rooms are on the ground floor which is developed linearly, following the shape of the land and leads to a large living area with an amazing view to the sea. The openings are designed in a way so as to achieve the best possible view and protect the privacy of the residents of nearby buildings.

The house was designed for a plot in Tersanas of Akrotiri, in Chania. The total surface is 260 m². At the spot where the building is located, the ground has a very steep slope and ends up to the sea. The geomorphology of the ground and the panoramic view to the sea were the basic principals of the design. The building is separated in 2 volumes, a single level volume and a two storey one. On the first volume the living areas are located whereas on the two storey volume has the bedrooms and the bathrooms. Every room has openings towards the sea. Outside, living spaces have been designed as well as a pool with a wooden deck. These areas are visually hidden from the neighbors and the street.

This luxury residence is located in Akrotiri, on a plot outside Chania. The house is about 325 m² and is developed in 2 levels. It has 4 bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, dining area and 2 living spaces. The choice of the materials was made considering the best energy efficiency of the building as well as its incorporation into the surrounding environment.

The construction was completed in 2013 by Euroland Crete.

This is an independent house of 125 m² on a plot of 7047 m², in Apokoronas. It is a two storey residence and it has 3 bedrooms, a large common space with a fireplace, 3 bathrooms and big verandas. The outside space with the pool is deployed in different levels so as to follow the natural slope of the ground.

The construction was completed in 2015 by Euroland Crete.

This vacation house was designed on a plot of 4350 m² in Tersanas of Akrotiri in Chania. The ground is inclined and the plot has a panoramic view to the sea and the city of Chania at southwest. On the opposite side, north-east, the building is twisted creating big, long surfaces of concrete, cutting off the house from the neighbors. The building is developed in 3 levels plus the basement. The entrance is in the middle, the living spaces and a bedroom are located in the lowest and 3 more bedrooms are at the last level. The total surface of the building is 203 m². In the front of the house an outside space with pool is deployed.

This is a project in Plaka, in Apokoronas which is parted from a proposal for renovation of an existing, unfinished house and a design of a second, single level house of stone. The existing building of total surface 160 m² is deployed in 2 levels plus the basement. The basement appears as ground floor in one side because of the slope of the ground. On the last level, the living spaces are located, in the middle there are the bedrooms and on the basement there is a parking space and storage rooms. The second house is 60 m² and it has 2 bedrooms and common space with the kitchen and living area.

This luxury residence is located in Akrotiri, in Chania. It is about 260 m² and is developed in 2 levels. A part of the lowest one is inside the ground as a result of the steep slope of the plot. Four bedrooms have been designed as well as a kitchen, dining space and 2 living spaces. The main idea was the design of a house with dynamic lines which create an introvert elevation from the side of the road and “open” the building from the side of the view. The slope of the site and the rocky ground were the determinant factors of the composition.
